Nature: President Emeritus James T. (Tee) Norwood
James T. (Tee) Norwood, President Emeritus of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company passed away on Friday, October 22, 2010.
Tee joined the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company in January, 1970 and has devoted himself and countless hours to helping the community and residents of Oak Orchard, Riverdale, Long Neck and surrounding vicinities during their times of need. Tee’s continued his active volunteer firefighting duties and responsibilities thru June, 2010 and was awarded the following distinctions throughout his firefighting career:
(1) President Emeritus in October, 2010;
(2) 55th Anniversary Parade Grand Marshal in October, 2008; and
(3) Life Membership in March, 1991.
Over the years, Tee was elected and served in the following positions: (1) Fire Line Operations – Second Assistant Chief, Chief Engineer and Engineer; and (2) Administrative Life Operations – Board of Director, President, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, and Assistant Treasurer. Tee was an exceptional tractor trailer apparatus operator during emergency incidents and took great pride in mentoring those who aspire to fulfill leadership positions within the volunteer fire service. Tee’s devoted diligence, untiring dedication and an outstanding work commitment to the residents of our fire district for many years has truly been an inspiration to many people in multiple walks of life.
Tee was a RESPECTED mentor, friend, co-worker, volunteer and diligently pursued everything with the upmost vigor, enthusiasm and personality. Tee clearly communicated his thoughts with great ease and elegance.
We say “thank you” to the Norwood Family for allowing Tee be apart of our organization and God Bless you and your family during these difficult times.

At this time, a Firefighter's Funeral is being planned with the viewing services being on Friday, October 29, 2010 at Watson's Funeral Home in Millsboro; and Saturday services at the Long Neck Methodist Church on October 30. Times and other specific information will be forthcoming upon determination.
