A Love & Support Program in Honor of Tee & Jean Norwood The Indian Mission Church and the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company collaborated to host an “A Love & Support Program Honoring Tee & Jean Norwood.” Traditionally, this is an event hosted by the Church to come together to have a program with singing, storytelling, flute music, scripture readings, and more to express love and appreciation to those in need. This event highlights the love, friendship and service to families by the community to let them know we support them during difficult times in their lives. In addition to the many speakers, storytellers, scripture readers, prayers, and songs, there were presentations by the following persons: (1) State Representative John C. Atkins acknowledging the years of service to the community organizations – Nanticoke Indian Association; Indian Mission Church; Indian River Volunteer Fire Company and many other entities performed by Tee Norwood; (2) Delaware Volunteer Firefighters Association President William F. Tobin, Jr. acknowledging and recognizing the 40 years of “active” volunteer firefighter service to the residents of the Indian River fire district performed by Tee Norwood. (3) Indian River Volunteer Fire Company President Patrick C. Miller acknowledging the contribution of James T. (Tee) Norwood, who reached his 40th anniversary milestone within the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company in January, 2010. Tee joined the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company in January, 1970 and has devoted himself and countless hours to helping the community and residents of Oak Orchard, Riverdale, Long Neck and surrounding vicinities during their times of need. Tee’s continued his active volunteer firefighting duties and responsibilities and was awarded a life membership for active and distinctive service in March, 1991. Over the years, Tee has served in the following positions: (1) Fire Line Operations – Second Assistant Chief, Chief Engineer and Engineer; and (2) Administrative Life Operations – Board of Director, President, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, and Assistant Treasurer. Tee has been and continues to be a superior tractor trailer apparatus operator during emergency incidents and takes pride in mentoring those who aspire to fulfill leadership positions within the volunteer fire service. Tee and his great friend, Snooty Mosley, served as Grand Marshals of Indian River’s 55th Anniversary Event, Parade and Truck Housing. In October, 2010, Tee was bestowed the honor of “President Emeritus” with the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company and today we are here to recognize him for this distinctive award. Tee has devoted diligence, untiring dedication and an outstanding work commitment to the residents of our fire district for many years. Therefore, we say “thank you” and may God Bless You; and (4) Retired co-workers, friends, and family members of Diamond State Telephone, Bell Atlantic and Verizon were on hand to share their support, kind words, thoughts and prayers to the Norwood family during this time.
