Saturday September, 18 2010 @ 18:04:56 Nature: Traffic/TransportationAcdntALS Address: Bay Farm Rd & School Lane, Millsboro, DE 19966 On Saturday afternoon, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company, the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit, the Sussex County Paramedics, and the Delaware State Fire Police were alerted for a personal injury vehicle collision on School Lane near the intersection of Bay Farm Road. It was reported that a sports utility vehicle was traveling on School Lane approaching Bay Farm Road and struck a utility pole. The vehicle was reported to have six occupants onboard. Duty Officer Hayden Klingler was operating as Incident Command and requested that responding emergency apparatus prepare for vehicle stabilization, patient stabilization, and assist with patient packaging and preparation for transportation to nearby medical facilities. The Delaware State Police Aviation Unit would be utilized. Engine #80-2 was assigned to prepare for a landing zoning at the Long Neck Elementary School on School Lane. The Delaware State Fire Police were required to prohibit traffic patterns on School Lane for the duration of the incident. It appears that a pearl white Cadillac Escalade was traveling on School Lane approaching Bay Farm Road and left the roadway for an unknown reason. The vehicle traveled off the roadway and struck a utility pole head-on causing significant damage to the vehicle and injurying some of the vehicle’s occupants. Some of the occupants were transported to nearby medical institutions for additional follow up with DSP Aviation flying one patient. The Delaware State Police are investigating the incident. State Police say the SUV driven by 54 year old Roland Young of Millsboro left the road for an unknown reason and went head-on into a utility pole. Police have warrants for Young charging him with vehicular assault and other offenses. Young, Jr., 54, Millsboro, DE 2002 Cadillac Escalade Resume: Delaware State Police investigated a one vehicle accident in which six people were injured that occurred in Millsboro yesterday evening. The incident occurred at approximately 6:00 p.m. Saturday as Roland G. Young, Jr. was operating a Cadillac Escalade and was traveling on School Lane in Millsboro. For an unknown reason, Young’s vehicle left the roadway and drove onto a lawn located in the 26000 block of School Lane. The Cadillac then struck a utility pole where it came to rest. Roland Young was transported from the scene by EMS to the Beebe Memorial Hospital where he was treated and admitted for injuries to his face and head area. Troopers have obtained warrants on Roland Young charging him with Vehicular Assault 1st degree (2 counts), Vehicular Assault 2nd degree (3 counts), Endangering the Welfare of a Child (2 counts), Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, No Proof of Motor Vehicle Insurance, and Failure to Obey a Traffic Control Device. His arrest is pending his release from the hospital. Four passengers in Young’s vehicle, a 44 year old Millsboro female, an 11 year old Millsboro male, a 63 year old Alexandria, VA woman, and a 15 year old Millsboro boy were all transported by EMS to Beebe Medical Center with various non life threatening injuries. Another male subject (age unknown) was removed from the scene by helicopter to the Christiana Hospital where he was treated and admitted with broken legs
