Nature: Trash Fire

Location: 28521 Cerise Lane Millsboro, DE 19966

On Tuesday afternoon, July 17th, while operating at an earlier vehicle accident, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for an outside trash fire on Cerise Lane in Oak Way Park off of River Road.

Emergency response units included the units returning from an earlier vehicle accident Ladder 80, Utility 80-11, Rescue 80 and units from the stations included Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility and Brush #80-00 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included fire suppression of an inappropriate, unattended trash fire at a residential location.

It appears that this incident was the result inappropriate outside burning and all residents of the structure departed prior to arrival of emergency apparatus.

The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company wishes to remind everyone of the statewide burn ban that is in effective until after September 30th.  The burning of leaves, building materials, and trash is illegal regardless of any burn ban.
