Campfires banned in several state parks
THE NEWS JOURNAL • JULY 7, 2010
The state Division of Parks and Recreation has issued a ban on campfires in some of Delaware’s state parks due to high temperatures and dry conditions.
The ban is effective until further notice.
As of today (July 7, 2010), campfires are banned in Lums Pond State Park, Killens Pond State Park, Trap Pond State Park and Cape Henlopen State Park.
The ban is to ensure the safety of campers and to protect the park’s forested areas.
Campers will still be able to use charcoal to cook their meals while the ban remains in effect, officials said.
