Friday June, 11 2010 @ 01:26:50 Nature: Traffic/Transportation Acdnt ALS Address: 27800 - 28193 Rosedale Rd Millsboro, DE 19966 Early Friday morning, June 11th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a personal injury vehicle accident on Rosedale Road just south west of John J. Williams Highway. It was reported to have a single moped type vehicle striking a mailbox. Indian River’s Duty Officer, Hayden Klingler was operating as Incident Command and requested that the Rescue be utilized for scene lighting and the other emergency responders assist with scene or patient stabilization as the Delaware State Fire Police were requested to close this section of roadway for the duration of the incident. The Sussex County Emergency Medicals Services were able to identify that the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit (Trooper #2) would not be needed for transportation of motorist. It appears that a moped was traveling south west on Rosedale Road, rounding a slight curve and struck a mailbox on the south side of the roadway. The moped and the operator slid onto the grassy shoulder of the road until a passing motorist came upon the accident scene. It is undetermined how long the motorist had been laying on the ground as the engine of the moped did not illustrate any heat sensation. The Delaware State Police are investigating the incident.
