Story
April, 2010 Ladder Training Curriculum via Delaware State Fire School During the past few days, March 31st, April 1st and April 3rd, Indian River's Training Officer Ryan Mock coordinated the various membership training curriculum offerings for Ladder Truck Operations via the Delaware State Fire School. This course taught various curriculum objectives such as Ladder Truck Operations, Ladder Truck duties and responsibilities: apparatus placement, apparatus set-up and take-down; aerial operations, water flow operations (master stream and water hook-ups and shut down); crew assignments – search and rescue objectives, ventilation objectives, forcible entry objectives, as well as salvage and overhaul objectives. Additional objectives of the course included mandatory inspection requirements, operational awareness issues, incident and scene size-up strategies, The course was taught by Delaware State Fire School Instructor Chuck Snyder and held at the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company facilities in Oak Orchard and Long Neck.
