Nature: Structure Fire
Address: Lingo Drive Lingo Estates - Millsboro, DE 19966
On Tuesday, April 6th, the Indian River, Millsboro and Lewes volunteer fire departments were alerted for a working residential structure fire on Lingo Drive in the Lingo Estates community just off of Long Neck Road. It was immediately identified that the manufactured home structure was possibly occupied at the time of the incident.
Firefighters immediately initiated two 1¾” fire suppression attack lines to knock down the fire and quickly initiated search and rescue assignment. The other responding units were assigned to assist with the fire suppression and extinguishment strategies in order to secure the scene for additional investigation by the Office of the State Fire Marshal and the Office of the State Medical Examiner. Additional assignments included perimeter security, scene overhaul and scene lighting for the on-going investigation.

Man dies in Long Neck fire

State fire officials are investigating the cause of a fire that claimed the life of a Long Neck man.
The fire occurred shortly before 5 p.m. Tuesday at a mobile home in the 25000 block of Lingo Lanes off
Long Neck Road in Lingo Estates, said Assistant State Fire Marshal Richard Ward.
When firefighters arrived from Indian River, Lewes and Millsboro, along with the Mid-Sussex Rescue,
there was heavy fire coming from the mobile home.
Witnesses said that the resident was still inside.
Firefighters discovered the body of a man inside the residence, Ward said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim’s name has not yet been released.
The body was taken to the state Medical Examiner’s Office for positive identification and to determine
how he died.
Ward said no other injuries were reported.
An investigation revealed that there were no smoke detectors in the residence.
Damage was estimated at $40,000, Ward said.
The cause and origin of the fatal fire remains under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
