Nature: Structure Fire
Location: Mountaire Farms

Late Sunday evening, the Millsboro and Indian River fire companies were initially alerted for a structure fire at Mountaire Farms facility on Del. 24 east of Millsboro. It was reported to be a working alarm with fire showing. Upon arrival of Millsboro’s Incident Commander, it was identified to be a working alarm and additional manpower and resources were requested.
In all firefighters from nine area fire companies were utilized to extinguish the burning grain. Fire company response included: Dagsboro (Station #73), Frankford (Station #76), Georgetown (Station #77), Gumboro (Station #79), Indian River (Station #80), Lewes (Station #82), Millsboro (Station #83), Milton (Station #85) and Rehoboth Beach (Station #86) were called out to assist with the incident.
Firefighters battled the blaze in an eight-story grain elevator for more than three hours. The fire occurred during grain drying, according to the State Fire Marshal's Office. The blaze was ruled accidental and damage was estimated at $10,000
