OAK ORCHARD, DEL. -
Manufactured home residents are invited to an informational meeting on Nov. 5, hosted by the Department of Justice’s Consumer Protection Unit.
The unit will brief manufactured home owners about the Manufactured Homes and Manufactured Home Communities Act and other issues affecting residents. The CPU’s Sussex County presentation will take place at Oak Orchard Indian River Fire Station in Long Neck from 6-8 p.m.
Rep. John C. Atkins, D-Millsboro, who is a member of the House Manufactured Housing Committee, said it is important that manufactured home residents attend these meetings to learn more about the issues facing them and the services that are available to them.
This year, the General Assembly has passed legislation requiring landlords to offer monthly rental payments instead of yearly lump sum payments and passed legislation giving communities the right of first refusal, which allows them to buy the land on which their homes are situated if the land is put up for sale.
The meeting will take place from 6-8 p.m. at the Indian River's Oak Orchard Fire Station, 32628 Oak Orchard Rd., Millsboro.
