Wednesday August, 5 2009 Chief Steven C. Deery, Jr. Steven C. Deery, Jr. has been a volunteer fireman with the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company for approximately the past 19 ½ years. Steven has served in the fire line capacities of Chief, Deputy Chief, First Assistant Chief, Second Assistant Chief, and Captain. Steven has served in the administrative capacities as Delegate and Alternate to the Delaware Volunteer Firemen’s Association, Board of Director of the fire company and committee member for many fire company operational committees. Steven is also certified as a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT-B) and works part-time with various volunteer fire companies within Sussex County. Chief Deery has represented the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company on numerous state and county committees for the volunteer firemen’s association; fire chief’s association; callboard association; and many other committee assignments. Chief Deery is permanently employed as an Sussex County Emergency Operations Dispatcher. Chief Deery resides in Oak Orchard with his immediate family.
