Nature: Peninsula Hosts Indian River’s 9th Annual Golf Tournament

On Tuesday, May 8th, 2018, the residents of the Peninsula hosted the Indian River’s 9th Annual Golf Tournament in order to generate funding and resources for the volunteer fire company. The event is the brainchild of few well-organized residents that wanted to do something for the emergency first responders within their respective fire district.
In all there was 137 golfers which comprised 35 teams and included representatives from the following fire companies with in Delaware: Indian River (80), Lewes (82), Millsboro (83), Selbyville (88), Memorial (89), and the City of Wilmington.
This well-organized event included many residential volunteers from the Peninsula Community and included such activities like driving range pro-demonstrations and tips; shotgun start; best ball scramble; grab ‘n go breakfast; mulligan & raffle ticket sales; silent auction; free on-course refreshments with hot dogs and beer; course challenges such as: beat the pro; putting contest; buy a drive; hole in one; closest to pin; and longest drive.
Raffles included: 50-50 cash; local dining gift baskets; Nike golf bag and club; Baltimore Orioles 4-seat box; local merchants gift baskets; nails and hair gift certificates; Blooming Boutique baskets, etc.
The silent auction house hosted autographed master flags signed by Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, and Gary Player; vintage photographs; Muhammad Ali aka Cassius Clay Autographed Boxing Glove; New England Legends Official NFL Helmet; New York Giants Legends Official NFL Helmet; Payne Stewart Autographed US Open Invitation; Autographed Rolling Stones Guitar; Autographed Rock & Roll Legends Autographed Guitar (Van Halen, Clapton, Page, Santana, Slash, Young, Edge & Townshend); Rehoboth Beach Country Club Golf foursome; Dinner in the Peninsula Clubhouse Wine Room; local artist paintings; wines; and many dining out and other gift certificates.
Additionally, this event was utilized to recognize and introduce Indian River's Firefighter of the Year - Joseph Keller
