Clean Up Day at Indian River
On Saturday, February 7th as the freezing temperatures broke, the snow melted, and the sun was shining, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company hosted an early apparatus spring clean up day. These activities were coordinated to rid the fire apparatus of the roadway grime and debris associated with traveling the salt and calcium covered roadways. These highway chemical and sand mixtures were utilized to combat the past icy and snowy conditions in order to make the roadways a safe thoroughfare.
The temperatures reached into the mid 50s during the mid-morning and early afternoon hours and many volunteers enjoyed the opportunity to share in the camaraderie around the fire stations and completed some menial tasks.
All of the apparatus were washed during this event and the front station parking areas were cleaned as well. We would like to thank our volunteers for their dedication and diligence.
