Nature: Traffic / Transportation Accident ALS

At approximately 5:37 p.m. on Saturday, December 20th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a personal injury vehicle collision at the intersection of Indian Mission Road (State Route #5) and Hollymount Road (County Road #48). It was reported to have a collision involving two vehicles with multiple persons trapped within the vehicles. The Delaware State Police Aviation Unit was also requested at the time of initial dispatch.
Upon arrival of Duty Officer – Hayden Klingler the incident was evaluated and determined that there was no entrapment and aviation could be discontinued. Engine #80-5 was first arriving piece of emergency from Indian River and was assigned to assist with patient stabilization, vehicle stabilization and traffic control assistance. Rescue 80 was assigned to provide lighting and assistance to the aforementioned tasks.
It appears that a Jeep Cherokee was traveling south on Route #5 approaching the Hollymount intersection and the red Oldsmobile, traveling east, failed to remained stopped at the stop sign. The vehicles collided, in a t-bone scenario, forcing the vehicles eastward onto Hollymount Road. The occupant’s compartment of the Oldsmobile was compromised by the incident impact. All persons were transported to nearby medical facilities.
The incident is under investigation by the Delaware State Police.
