On Sunday, 11/30/2008 at approximately 6:11 p.m., the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a personal injury vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway adjacent to McDonald @ Bayshore Plaza. Various officers and members of the fire company were in the immediate vicinity of the incident and responded directly to the scene. These members identified that a single vehicle (GMC Jimmy SUV) had departed from the roadway surface and struck a utility pole for an unknown reason. The occupant of the vehicle remained inside of the vehicle. The fire company was requested to remove the driver’s side door in order to free the occupant. The Delaware State Police are investigating the incident
