Outside Fire – Dash In – John J. Williams Highway @ Long Neck Road On Friday evening October 31st at approximately 8:07 p.m., the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for an outside fire incident at the Dash In (Shell Station) at the intersection of John J. Williams Highway and Long Neck Road. It appears that the exterior of a self-service gas pump was ignited in some fashion. The Delaware State Police were on-scene directing motorist to vacate the gas pump facility. Responding personnel from Indian River activated the emergency pump shut off. After evaluation, it appears that the exterior of the gas pumps were damaged with minimal to no interior pump damage. The origin of the entire incident appears to be suspicious pending additional information. The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the incident.
