EMS Incident Alerts for Indian River

January 1, 2017 thru February 18, 2018

 

In order to fully educate our growing residential population within the Indian River Fire District, we hereby publish periodic statistical information regarding our emergency incident responses.

The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company does not own nor operate ambulance(s) or an ambulance service within the fire district; however, Indian River VFC has identified a specific need to assist the local emergency medical services provider in order to fully serve our community.

During the time period of January 1, 2017 through February 18, 2018, the Indian River VFC was alerted for 563.0 total incidents which included 161.0 medical assists or assist EMS crews in which Indian River apparatus actually arrived on scene and was utilized.  This represents approximately 28.6% of our call volume during this time period. 

Additionally, the Indian River VFC was alerted for an additional 88.0 incidents and cancelled while enroute to the incident location.  This represents approximately 15.6% of our call volume for the same time period.

In order to best serve our community, Indian River VFC does host a cadre of Emergency Medical Responders (EMRs) and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs).

Periodically, residents will contact the fire company or sometimes wonder why they hear the fire siren or see apparatus responding, but do not see any facebook or website posts.  Indian River does not post information on medical related calls or alerts due to patient confidentiality.
