Story
Indian River Volunteer Fire Company activates its new Incident Command Unit in July, 2008. The Incident Command Unit is intended to be Duty Officer Vehicle and is a 2008 Chevrolet Suburban 2500 equipped with various radio communication devices for 800 megahertz (Police, Fire and EMS); 400 megahertz (Indian River’s low band communications), marine communications for US Coast Guard, and cellular phone capabilities. The Command Unit also operates with thermal imaging camera and monitor systems, computer aided district pre-plan maps, officer firefighting gear and misc. tools. The graphics displayed on the vehicle were created and installed by Fitch Graphics in Elkton, Maryland and the emergency light package was created and installed by Diamond State in Newark, Delaware. Many of the emergency response lights are Whelen products. You may view our Apparatus Gallery for additional information. Indian River hereby acknowledges the support of our community residents and entrepreneurs for making this vehicle a reality.
