Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: John J Williams Hwy and Lay Millsboro, DE 19966

On Saturday morning, February 10^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway in the vicinity of Layton Davis Road.  It was reported to be a single vehicle collision involving a utility pole with the possibility of three persons inside the vehicle.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Ladder 80 and Command 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.   Other ancillary responders included the Sussex County Paramedics, the local emergency medical services provider and the Delaware State Police. 

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, debris and fluid recovery where needed, traffic control and scene preservation. 

It appears that a blue Ford Ranger Pick up was traveling on John J. Williams Highway and collided with a utility pole for unknown reasons.  The utility pole was severed in two causing a traffic hazard.  The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident as the respective utility provider had to install a new pole.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
