On Thursday morning of July 17th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a personal injury vehicle accident after a small car and truck collided while traveling on Indian Mission Road near the vicinity of Holly Mount Road. The car was traveling north on Indian Mission Road and the truck was traveling south on Indian Mission Road.
Our duty officer, First Assistant Chief Eric Ruckle, responded to the incident and reported a brief synopsis of the incident. The car was split in two as a result of the collision and truck carrying construction materials was overturned. Fire and EMS personnel that responded to the incident were to assist with patient care as well as attempting to stabilize the incident pending further evaluation by the Delaware State Police.
Emergency response personnel were assigned to assist with patient stabilization and to secure the vehicle, re-route traffic and wait additional directives. The patient was transferred to nearby medical facilities by the local EMS provider.
