At approximately 11:04 p.m. (Friday evening) on May 2nd, 2008, the Indian River, Millsboro and Lewes volunteer fire companies were alerted for a reported working structure on Gull Point Road just south of John J. Williams Highway. It was identified that a residential structure was fully involved with heavy fire showing with extensions to a nearby vehicle, vessel, construction utility trailer, other residential buildings and storage structures. The initial responding fire apparatus were assigned primarily to fire suppression and protection of exposures concerns. Additional responding apparatus from Indian River were assigned to assist with fire suppression, ventilation and water supply operations. The Lewes Fire Department was designated to assist with our manpower operations as well as all of the other previous assignments. The incident involving the residential structure was brought under control at approximately 2:30 a. The Delaware Fire Marshal is investigating the origin of the incident.

HOUSE FIRE DELIBERATE: A fire that caused about $100,000 damage to a Millsboro-area home Friday night was deliberately set, the Delaware State Fire Marshal's office said Saturday. No one was home when the fire was started at about 11 p.m. in the 30000 block of Gull Point Road, Long Neck. When firefighters arrived, flames were shooting out of the house. There were no reported injuries. Anyone with information may call the State Fire Marshal's Sussex County Division at 856-5600 or Crime Stoppers at (800) TIP-3333.
