Nature: Grass Fire

40 Sharon Dr., John Burton Manor, Millsboro, DE 19966

On Saturday, January 20^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a grass fire on Sharon Drive in the John Burton Manor development off American Legion Road.  It was identified as a control burn that got out of hand for the second time in as many days within this residential development.

Emergency responses from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Brush #80-0 and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included fire suppression lines to saturate the area to prevent the spread as well as to ensure extinguishment.  Crews utilized rakes and other devices to gain control.

It appears that there was a control burn situation that out of hand causing this grass and brush fire.

The Delaware State Fire Police assisted with traffic control.
