Nature: Alarm Sounding

Location: Building 14

Address:  35748 South Gloucester Circle Millsboro, DE 19966

On Sunday, January 7th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for an automatic alarm sounding at 35748 South Gloucester Circle in Fairfield off of Long Neck Road.  This location is a multi-story residential townhouse complex.

Emergency response units included Engines #80-1 and #80-3 from the Long Neck facility as well as Ladder 80, Utilities #80-8 and #80-11 and Command 80 from the Oak Orchard facility.

Emergency response crews were able to identify that two units have suffered broken water pipes causing significant damage of all levels of the structure and running out the garages.

It appears that the water pipes running above the highest level froze and broke.

The utilities to these units were disconnected and the various service contractors were notified.
