Nature: Automatic Fire Alarm

Early Thursday, January 4^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for an automatic fire alarm in a multi-residential complex on Crepe Myrtle Drive in the Gull Point development.  It was reported to be smoke detector activation.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Chief 80-15 in Incident Command 80-10 and Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility.  Due to the inclement weather all Station #2 apparatus were held at the station pending further evaluation of the incident.

Emergency response crew assignments included incident mitigation to identify the source of the issue.  A thermal imaging camera was requested and utilized while inside the structure.

It appears that a issue was created by a faulty residential heater motor.

All units were returned and the homeowner will be making appropriate repairs as needed in order to restore residential heat within their respective unit.
