On Saturday, January 12, 2008, members of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company gathered for their Annual Awards and Firefighter Appreciation Banquet. A host of members and their significant others attended for an evening of dinner, entertainment and awards presentations.
The 2007 "Firefighter Of The Year" was presented to Firefighter Hayden Klingler. Hayden has been a long time member of the Christiana Fire Company. He has joined the Indian River Fire Company as an Active Member and has been an essential element of many projects that have been pursued throughout the year. Hayden continues to be a leader in the fire service and has continued to commit endless hours of devotion and dedication. Hayden participation serves as role model for all members of the fire service.
The Henry C. Warrington Award was presented to Firefighter Michael G. Bowden. Firefighter Bowden has been a member of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company for 38 years and has held both administrative and fire line offices. Michael has service on various committees and has been instrumental with the operations of the fire company. Firefighter Bowden was awarded this special recognition because of his continued dedication and devotion to the fire service.
