Nature: Vehicle Accident Possibly Serious

Address:  27252 Barkantine Dr., River Village, Millsboro, DE 19966

 

Early Sunday morning, December 10th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident reported as vehicle through a fence and into a tree with occupants heavily entrapped.  The Millsboro Fire Company was also alerted for a vehicle accident assist as was the Sussex County Paramedics. 

Emergency response units from Indian River included Engine #80-1 and #80-3 from the Long Neck facility, Utility 80-8, and the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, assist with patient stabilization, traffic control, preparation for vehicle extrication, and scene management.  Additional resources were needed as the driver self extricated and fled which was later located and needed emergency medical assistance.

It appears that a white pick truck was traveling on Oak Orchard Road and lost control traveling off the roadway through a fence and into a tree.  One occupant was heavily trapped and needed extrication.  All aviation units from the Delaware State Police and Maryland State Police were no available due to weather.

The Delaware State Fire Police were required to close Oak Orchard Road for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
