On Saturday afternoon, September 9, 2007, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of John J. Williams Hwy (State Route 324) and Oak Orchard Road. It was determined that black Chevrolet Pick up traveling east on State Route #24 failed to stop for traffic at the intersection and collided with a blue Ford Taurus causing substantial rear end damage to the sedan. The occupants of the sedan were evaluated and transported to nearby medical facilities by the local emergency medical service provided. Emergency apparatus responding to the emergency incident were directed to approach the intersection and stage in the eastbound lanes of State Route #24 in order to secure the vehicles and provide assistance with the delivery of emergency care services. The vehicles were stabilized during the initial incident procedures. State Route #24 was closed intermittently for the duration of the incident. The Delaware State Police are investigating the incident.
