Nature: Vehicle Accident

Location: In Front Of Harris Teeter

On Sunday afternoon, December 3rd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway at or near the entrance to Harris Teeter.  It was reported to be a two vehicle collision with significant vehicle damage.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Ladder 80 and Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard as well as Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility.  Additional incident alerts included the Sussex County Paramedics, the Delaware State Police, and the Delaware State Fire Police.

It appears that a Chrysler sedan and an Oldsmobile Alero collided near the entrance to the Harris Teeter Shopping Center.  The Oldsmobile suffered front end damage and the Chrysler sedan suffered left side damage.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, traffic control, fluid and debris recovery, as well as overall included mitigation.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.

The Delaware State Fire Police have provided traffic control assistance for the duration of the enough.
