On Saturday afternoon, July 21, 2007, at approximately 4:31 p.m., the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a motor vehicle collision on Indian Mission Road (State Route #5) at the intersection of Beaver Dam Road (State Route #23 or County Road #285). Second Assistant Chief Steven Hawkins arrived on location and discovered a two vehicle collision, with one vehicle heavily involved with fire. All patients were out of the vehicles. Engine 80-5 arrived on location and initiated fire suppression attack as assigned. Two patients were transported to a local medical facility for evaluation by the local EMS providers. A segment of Indian Mission Road was closed due to the nature of this incident and to allow an on-going evaluation. The Delaware State Police are investigating this mishap.
