Tuesday November, 21 2017 @ 15:10 Nature: Vehicle Accident Possibly Serious Location: Indian Mission Rd and Beaver Dam Road, Harbeson, DE 19951
On Tuesday afternoon, November 21st, the Indian River (80), Rehoboth Beach and Lewes Fire Department Emergency Medical Service Units, and the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit (Trooper #2) were alerted for a vehicle accident involving a roll-over and occupant entrapment. Emergency response units from Indian River included Ladder 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, traffic control, and incident mitigation. It appears that a concrete truck was traveling on Beaver Dam Road approaching the intersection of Indian Mission Road and did not successfully navigate the intersection and sharp curve. The concrete truck, loaded with cement overturned and slid into the wooded shoulder area spilling some of its concrete. The occupant was able to self-extricate and was transported to nearby medical facilities for additional observation. All other responding EMS units were cancelled as was the Delaware State Police Aviation unit. The Delaware Department of Transportation (DELDOT) was notified regarding roadway clean up and debris recovery (spilled concrete) as was an heavy duty tow truck to right side the overturned concrete truck. The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident. The Delaware State Police are investigating. |
