Sunday November, 19 2017 @ 12:39 Nature: Vehicle Accident Possibly Serious Location: In Front of Harris Teeter
On Sunday afternoon, November 19th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway in the vicinity of Harris Teeter Grocery Store. It was reported to be a two-vehicle collision with occupant entrapment. Emergency response units from Indian River included the following units: Ladder 80 and Chief 80-15 from the Oak Orchard area, Engines #80-1 and #80-3 from the Long Neck area as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. Additional response units from the Sussex County Paramedics, the Millsboro Fire Company EMS, and the local EMS provider. Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, preparation for extrication measures, traffic control, sign mitigation measures, assistance with patient stabilization if needed. It appears that a white Ford Expedition was traveling on John J. Williams Highway when a KIA Soul entered its pathway and both vehicles collided. The KIA was struck at or near the passenger compartment on the driver’s side causing occupant entrapment. The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident. The Delaware State Police are investigating. |
