Nature: Assist Delaware State Police / DNREC Traffic

Location:  Indian Mission Road @ Wawa Entrance

On Saturday, November 18th, the Delaware State Fire Police assigned to the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company were alerted to assist the Delaware State Police and the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control Emergency Response with fluid recovery and spill mitigation efforts on Indian Mission Road between Food Lion and Wawa.

It appears that the spillage of at least 55 gallons of an oil based product occurred on Indian Mission Road which required extensive clean up and mitigation efforts.

The Delaware State Fire Police provided traffic control assistance for the duration of the incident which included closure of specific traffic lanes and prohibition of specific turn lanes onto Indian Mission Road.

This segment of roadway was reopened within 2 hours of the initial complaint.
