Nature: Smoke Investigation

Location: 27819 Sandy Dr., River Breeze Development, Millsboro, DE 19966

On Wednesday afternoon, November 15^th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a smoke investigation incident on Sandy Drive in the River Breeze development off of Oak Orchard Road.  It was reported to be an unknown type of fire with smoke throughout the development and coming from the Sandy Drive area.

Emergency response crews from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility, Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facility and the Delaware State Fire Police. 

Emergency response assignments included incident identification and evaluation, cessation of emergency response apparatus and notification to the property owner regarding the permissible burn procedures.

It appears that the residential occupant was having a contained and controlled burn of miscellaneous materials and neighbors found the emitting smoke to be offensive.  The residential occupant was instructed to extinguish the fire and discontinue burning.

All units were cleared and returned to their respective stations.
