Sunday November, 12 2017 @ 17:17 Nature: Vehicle Accident Possibly Serious Location: John J Williams Hwy and Bulls Eye Lane, Millsboro, DE 19966
On Sunday evening, November 12th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway in the vicinity of Bulls Eyes Lane. It was reported to be a serious vehicle incident involving two vehicles. Emergency response apparatus from Indian River included Ladder 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-1 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police. Additional resources were requested from the Delaware Department of Transportation (DELDOT), the Delaware State Police – Aviation Unit (Trooper 2), the Sussex County Paramedics, and the local emergency medical services provider. Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, patient stabilization, traffic control, scene preservation, landing zone designation and establishment, debris and fluid recovery, and overall incident mitigation. It appears that a compact Dodge sedan was struck by a larger Chrysler sedan while traveling on John J. Williams Highway. Both vehicles sustained significant damage and one occupant was flown to nearby medical facilities for additional observation. The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident because John J. Williams Highway was closed. The Delaware Department of Transportation (DELDOT) was requested for debris and fluid clean up because the debris field was estimated to be a ¾ of mile and the possibility for an extended roadway closure. The Delaware State Police are investigating. |
