Story
On Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at 8:20 p.m., the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a working structure fire in Oak Orchard. Upon arrival of our First Assistant Chief, Ryan Mock, it was determined to have a travel trailer fully involved with exposures to another travel trailer and a nearby commercial structure. The first arriving unit, Engine 80-1 deployed a 1 ¾” attack line and was able to make a successful stop on the fire. Other units from the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company responded directly to the scene which included: Tanker 80, Rescue 80, Engine #80-2, and the Delaware State Fire Police closed segments of Oak Orchard Road during the incident. The Millsboro Fire Company provided stand-by coverage at Station 1 until our units could be returned to service. The Delaware State Fire Marshals Office is investigating this incident.
