On Friday, December 22, 2006, at 3:45 p.m., the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a motor vehicle collision on John J. Williams Highway at the intersection of Legion Road. Upon arrival of First Assistant Chief Ryan Mock it was determined to be a two vehicle incident, with a T-bone type collision. One patient needed additional medical attention and was transported to a local medical facility. Firefighters were required to perform vehicle stabilization, assist EMS crews with patient extrication, vehicle fluid control and roadway hazard clean up. This incident was under control at 4:13 p.m. The Delaware State Police are investigating.
