On Thanksgiving Day (Thursday, November 23, 2006) at 4:33 p.m., the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a reported working house fire on Sloop Avenue in Pot Nets Bayside. First Assistant Chief Ryan Mock arrived on scene and reported heavy fire showing. Engine 80-2 arrived on scene and placed two suppression lines in service. Additional arriving apparatus assisted with containment and extinguishment of the fire. This incident was placed under control at 5:59 p.m. Assistance was given by the Lewes Fire Department, Millsboro Fire Company, and the Milton Volunteer Fire Company. The Georgetown Volunteer Fire Company provided stand by coverage. No one was home at the time of the fire, and there were no firefighter or civilian injuries. This incident is under investigation by the Delaware State Fire Marshal's Office.
