Nature: Structure Fire

Additional Information:  Camper Hooked To A Truck

Address:  21640-21663 Beauchamp Lane Harbeson, DE 19951

On Friday morning, October 27th, the Indian River (80) and Rehoboth Beach (86) fire companies were alerted to assist Lewes (82) Fire Department with a structure fire on Beauchamp Lane off of Beaver Dam Road.  The initial dispatch was for Lewes Fire Department to a recreational camper attached to a truck fire.  Exposures to the residential structure necessitated an immediate alarm upgrade with additional resources being requested.  Shortly thereafter, the Millsboro (83), and Milton (85) fire companies were redirected to the incident location.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Tanker 80 from the Oak Orchard facility and Engine #80-3 from the Long Neck facilities as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response assignments included assistance with fire suppression; interior search and rescue of potential residents; water supply; salvage, recovery and overhaul as well as clean-up activities.

It appears that the fire may have originated within the recreational camper and quickly spread to the residential structure.

The Delaware State Fire Police provided traffic control assistance as Beaver Dam Road was closed for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.

Ancillary services for station cover up assignments were coordinated by the Georgetown (77), Dagsboro (73), Memorial (89), and Bethany Beach (70) fire companies.
