Story
On Tuesday, August 1, 2006, at 4:13 a.m. the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched to a report of a gas leak. Upon the arrival of Fire Chief Steven Deery it was determined that two 250 pound propane tanks were actively venting with one of the tanks laying on its side. Engine 80-2, under the direction of Deputy Chief Brian Hubbs, arrived on location and placed an attack line in service. Firefighters then advanced on the tank to quell the leak. Engine 2 firefighters were assisted by Engine 80-1, Rescue 80, and Engine 80-5. The incident was placed under control by Chief Deery at 5:00 a.m. The home owners propane company responded to the scene to inspect the tanks for damage.
