On Monday evening, June 12, 2006, at 6:38 p.m., the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a serious motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival of Second Assistant Chief Jason Faulkner, it was determined that one vehicle had veered off the roadway, struck a tree, house and pedestrian. The driver of the vehicle was ejected during the incident and transported to Christiana Hospital by Delaware State Police Aviation. The pedestrian was pronounced at the scene. River Road was closed by the Delaware Department of Transportation and Delaware State Fire Police for an evaluation period. The collision is currently under investigation by the Delaware State Police.
