On Sunday, May 21, 2006, at 9:28 p.m., the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted to a motor vehicle collision on Legion Road. The Sussex County Emergency Operations Center notified duty officer Captain George Bixby that one vehicle was reported overturned with one occupant out of the vehicle. Rescue crews were required to stablize the vehicle so that the occupant could be properly immobilized for transport to a local area hospital. Thirty-Six Indian River firefighters were in service. The Delaware State Police are investigating this incident.
