On Saturday, March 19, 2006, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was called upon to assist the Millsboro Fire Company on two seperate woods fire. The first field fire occured on County Road 302A north of County Road 48. Indian River provided two brush trucks and tanker company assist. Twenty-Five firefighters were in service for fifty-four minutes.
At 6:48 p.m., the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted to assist the Millsboro Fire Company on a woods fire on Lawson Road. Tanker 80 responded directly to the scene to assist with water supply. Engine 80-2, under the command of First Assistant Chief Ryan Mock, provided stand-by coverage for the Millsboro Fire Company until the were able to return to service. Twenty-six firefighters were in service for one hour and nineteen minutes.
