Vehicle Accident Closes Banks Road – Second Time Today

On Saturday, September 2nd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Banks Road in the vicinity of the sharp curves.  It was reported to be a single vehicle versus a telephone pole.  This was the second incident on Banks Road in a few hours and both incidents resulted in the roadway closure and utility pole replacements.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Engine #80-1 and Brush #80-0 from the Long Neck facility and Ladder 80 and Utility #80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crews assistance with vehicle stabilization and traffic control for the duration of the incident.

It appears that a red Dodge Dakota Pick-up was traveling on Banks Road an struck a utility pole causing an electrical outrage and breaking the pole.  The electrical company was delivering a replacement pole for the earlier incident and came upon this second vehicle accident requiring another utility pole.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
