Nature: Vehicle Accident Possibly Serious

On Saturday, September 2^nd, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on Banks Road near the entrance to Winding Creek Village.  It was reported to be a single vehicle collision involving a telephone pole and downed overhead electrical wires.

Emergency response units from Indian River included engine #80-1 and Brush #80-0 from the Long Neck facility and Ladder 80 from the Oak Orchard facility as well as the Delaware State Fire Police.

Emergency response crews were required to stabilize the vehicle, evaluate the downed wires issues, and initiate closure of Banks Road for the duration of the incident.

It appears that a marron Ford Explorer was traveling on Banks Road and left the roadway striking a telephone pole knocking loose the electrical overhead wires.

The Delaware State Fire Police coordinated traffic control for the duration of the incident.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
