On Thursday evening, August 24th, the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a vehicle accident on John J. Williams Highway in the vicinity of Brandywood.  It was reported to be a two car head-on collision.

Emergency response units from Indian River included Engine #80-1 from the Long Neck facility as well as Ladder 80 from the Oak Orchard facility.  Additional alerted were tendered for the Delaware State Fire Police, Delaware State Police Aviation Unit (Trooper #2), Sussex County Paramedics and additional ambulances from Rehoboth Beach (86), as well as Sussex County Paramedics.

Emergency response crew assignments included vehicle stabilization, assist with patient stabilization if needed, traffic control, scene mitigation, as well as fluid and debris recovery and clean-up.

The Delaware State Fire Police were ordered to close and detour traffic from John J. Williams Highway along Holly Mount Road, Phillips Branch Road, and Holly Lake Road.

It appears that the black BWM SUV lost control while traveling on John J. Williams Highway and struck the white utility van head on.  The injured parties were transported to nearby medical facilities for additional services.

The Delaware State Police are investigating.
