On Tuesday, January 31, 2006, at 9:51 a.m., the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company was alerted for a motor vehicle collision. The Sussex County Emergency Operations Center advised Chief Steven Deery that one of the vehicles was on fire. First arriving fire units extinguished the fire, while secondary arriving units assisted with overhaul and patient loading. The incident was under the command of Chief Steven Deery.
