At 1041 AM on Friday, January 13, we were dispatched to Route 24, John J. Williams Highway, between Oak Orchard Road and Layton Davis Road for an MVC with injuries and power lines down. On arrival, we found a pickup truck had struck a power pole, severing the pole. Power lines were down across Route 24. The driver was already out of the truck. He was treated by Sussex County Paramedics and flown to Beebe Medical Center by the State Police helicopter, Trooper 2. Twenty-two firefighters were in service for 1 hour and 24 minutes for this call. Route 24 was closed for an additional 2 hours as the power lines were repaired.
