Story
On Sunday, September 4, we assisted with the Labor Day Long Neck Way Celebration held at Pot-Nets Bayside. This annual end of summer event is sponsored by the Long Neck Businessmen's Association. Members of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company contributed to the celebration in many ways. An early crew took Engine 80-7 over in the morning. They filled the dunk tank and set up to handle any emergencies during the celebration. Fire Police directed traffic all day. Fire Truck Rides were provided for kids of all ages. Some unexpected entertainment occurred when Engine 80-2 had to leave to answer a call. Joyce Bowden, the wife of one of our members, performed her Dolly Parton impersonation. Throughout the day, more members and apparatus arrived. Shortly before the fireworks started, the crews staged in different areas to handle any emergencies. Fortunately, there were no problems during the fireworks and we returned from a long but successful day.
