At 9:03 AM on Monday, August 15, we were dispatched, along with Station 82. Lewes, to 34175 Sassafras Lane, Pot-Nets Bayside, for a report of smoke coming from a residence. First arriving units reported nothing showing. The assignment for Station 82 was changed to a fill-in at our Station 2. Firefighters had to make forcible entry to check inside the residence. A thorough investigation using Thermal Imaging Cameras was unable to locate the source of any smoke. The cause of the smoke was determoned to be a malfunction in a combination hot water heater/furnace after a later interview with the homeowner. Twenty-five firefighters, under the direction of First Assistant Chief Brian Hubbs, were in service for one hour and six minutes for this call.
