At 8:46 PM on June 10, we were dispatched for an MVA with injury on Long Neck Road opposite the entrance to Leisure Point. On arrival, we found a one car accident with the driver still in the car. The car struck a power pole and came to rest well off the road. The pole snapped in the middle and was hanging over the roadway. The driver was quickly removed and transported to Beebe Medical Center. Long Neck Road was closed for more than 2 hours while the power company cleared the roadway. Verizon was notified as a phone junction box was destroyed in the accident. DELDOT responded to the scene to assist with traffic control. Traffic was detoured through the strip mall across the street from the accident but the backup still extended past Route 24, John J. Williams Highway. Twenty-seven firefighters were in service for two hours and four minutes on this call.
